Top 7 Insane Golf Swing Tips!

1. I was so embarrassed with my golf game and just about ready to quit the game all together. I took dozens of lessons from golf pros but all I got was more and more confused, and my scores got higher and higher. Then a golf buddy of mine let me try out this golf training aid he said totally turned his game around. At first I struggled with this thing because I was rushing my takeaway. Once I began to use it correctly (after about 20 minutes) I began to hit balls. OMG, my slice was totally gone! In fact, 2 weeks later I shot 80 - my best round by far! Now I can't wait to get back out on the course to see how good I can get.

2. The best golf ball for any amateur is by far refinished golf balls. So the question becomes "is it worth it to pay 40% - 80% more for golf balls that you are going to lose anyway just to gain a yard or so under ideal swing conditions?" But that isn't the only reason. By purchasing pre-owned recycled or refinished golf balls, you are also helping the environment by recycling the plastic, metal and other material used in golf balls.

3. The secret to effortless power and longer drives in your golf swing is to hold the golf swing angle until the last moment and then "crack the whip". If you retain the angle late in the golf swing you will find it easy to "crack the whip" and unleash an enormous amount of power in your golf swing.

4. Golf balls travels further in warmer months than the cooler ones because greater air temperature causes air density to be lower - the lower air density causes the ball to fly further because of less drag on the golf ball (about 6 yards further for every 10 degrees Celsius with a driver). Also, when golf ball and club face are warmer, there is more "spring effect" off the club face resulting in greater ball speed and greater distance. Now the difference in ball flight between low air humidity and high air humidity is not statistically significant. As air humidity increases, air density does decrease to some extent(your instinct would say that humid air is more dense than dry air however water vapor weighs less than oxygen and nitrogen making the air less dense). Less dense air will create a little less lift and less drag however the difference is so small it is not even worth mentioning(maybe 1 or 2 yards further with your driver on a warm/humid day compared with a warm/dry day).

5. Legendary instructor Harvey Pennick's "magic move" has helped generations of golfers improve their golf swing. This is one move, not two, and must happen simultaneously. The left foot-right elbow move is returning the left heel to the ground and the right elbow to the body simultaneously to start the down swing. This position is known as "the slot". To start your downswing, let your weight shift to your left foot while bringing your right elbow back down to your body. Think about softly squishing a bug with your front foot to start your downswing. This swing thought correctly starts your legs and a weight shift for a down the line swing. Let gravity drop your arms. This is an awesome downswing swing thought to prevent the over the top move that causes so many amateurs to slice the ball. It should also help you feel the lag when transitioning AND will allow your right elbow to drop into the "slot".

6. You can learn a tremendous amount about your golf swing simply by watching the flight of your golf ball. If your ball starts out straight down your target line then curves way left(duck hook), this tells us your swing path during your downswing is ok, however your club face is very closed at impact(if your swing path was out to in during your downswing AND your clubface closed at impact, this will produce a pull hook where the ball starts left then curves even more to the left). So for the most part your swing path dictates the direction the ball starts out in the beginning of it's flight, and the position of the club face at impact dictates whether the ball will fly straight or have a curve on it(hook, slice).

7. Golf is a game of opposites, the paradox with golf is you have to hit down on the golf ball to make it go up. Lee Trevino told me the secret to hitting solid golf shots is to imagine the club face as being the back of your left hand while you swing. As he approaches impact Lee imagines "trapping" the back of his left hand against the back of the ball - the reason Lee Trevino takes such large divots. This is such a powerful golf move because it allows you to retain the lag deep into your downswing. So you need to learn how to trap the ball correctly for powerful and accurate golf shots.
